Flight Assist was created to help the pilots and Rangers of the Kenya Wildlife Service stop the killing of the animals of Africa. Their dedication and courage in the face of amazing difficulties and danger is helping to save Kenya’s elephants and rhinos from poachers who stop at nothing, including murder, to acquire the ivory and rhino horns that puts a few dollars in their pockets while devastating the wildlife population.

In Tsavo East, Kenya’s largest game park, over 90,000 animals are killed each year by poachers. Over 2 million snares are set each year, resulting in massive and indiscriminate murder.

Flight Assist is providing necessary aviation fuel, supplies and training to help the pilots and Rangers to continue this critical work. Our first goal is to provide barrels of aviation fuel to the KWS Air Wing so patrol flights can continue over the vast game parks and wildlife areas. Like a police patrol on the interstate, these flights make the poachers think twice before they decide to act.

Next, Flight Assist plans to provide medical supplies and first aid training to the Ranger teams who pursue the poachers on the ground. This will help reduce the deaths and injuries that often result from gunshots and accidents during ground operations.

Third, Flight Assist will assist in pilot training to help reduce accidents and to improve their ability to support the ground effort. Flying Super Cubs and Huskies at low altitudes in remote areas, these pilots are doing an amazing job! However, the demands of this type of “low and slow” flying are high. Regular training is critical.
